Credit union to build in U District

Stocks move higher a day after Tuesday’s big dive SEATTLE — Washington State Employees Credit Union plans to build a new University District branch at 1121 N.E. 45th St.

Wright Runstad & Co. is the project developer, said a credit union spokeswoman. No designer or contractor has been selected. Wright Runstad developed the credit union’s $62 million Olympia headquarters in 2009.

The tentative plan is to build the U District project in 2013 and move there in 2014, the spokeswoman said. The current branch is a block west of the project site.

WSECU on Monday bought the new property for $3.9 million from a limited liability company whose manager is Lo Sun of Edmonds, records show. A restaurant is on the 11,100-square-foot lot.
